Occupational safety and order in manufacturing

In manufacturing, a breach of procedure is paid for in health rather than money. n7kel connects to shop floor and site cameras and reports workwear violations, entry into hazardous zones and unattended posts — immediately, with a frame and a video clip.

Challenges

What manufacturing sites face

  • 01

    PPE

    Working without a helmet, high-visibility vest or gloves where they are mandatory.

  • 02

    Hazardous zones

    Entering the operating zone of equipment, walking under suspended loads, entering restricted areas.

  • 03

    Posts

    An operator’s post is unattended, absences during the shift, the person at the post is not the one on the schedule.

  • 04

    Incidents

    A person is lying on the floor with no one nearby; on the night shift this is noticed too late.

What the system sees on the shop floor

  • PPE: helmet, high-visibility vest, gloves — the set is defined for each post;
  • hazardous zones: entry into a marked zone is a critical event with an immediate notification;
  • post occupancy: who is at which post, which posts are unattended, absences and returns with their duration;
  • identification: whether the employee at the post is the one on the schedule — only for employees with written consent;
  • actions: phone calls, smoking, eating, sleeping at the post — informational flags, enabled at the client’s decision;
  • safety: a person on the floor; low-light support.

If a camera goes offline, no violations are raised from empty frames: posts switch to the “unknown” state and a camera notification is sent.

How we configure the system for manufacturing

  • we mark out posts and hazardous zones on site together with the occupational safety service;
  • we define the required workwear for each post;
  • we train n7kel AI further for your production: your company’s uniforms and PPE, equipment, new actions and violation scenarios;
  • we calibrate the system on your recordings: workwear, lighting and camera angles differ from site to site;
  • the occupational safety service marks events as “confirmed” or “false alarm”, and the system adapts to the site based on these decisions;
  • analytics shows trends by post, shift and violation type before and after a procedure change.

What is needed to start

n7kel AI is trained and tested on ordinary 2D images, so the cameras you already have are suitable. 3D cameras are supported too, if they are already on site or the task requires them.

  • access to shop floor and site cameras — a view-only account;
  • space and power for the equipment, a separate network segment for cameras;
  • a list of posts, hazardous zones and workwear requirements;
  • a person responsible for reviewing events; an internal policy on video analytics and a staff notice — we provide a template;
  • a pilot of 2–4 weeks in 1–2 areas, with a final report with figures against agreed criteria.

Let’s discuss your shop floor
