Cameras
Do we need to replace cameras? Are 3D cameras supported?
n7kel AI is trained and tested on ordinary 2D images, so the cameras you already have are suitable. 3D cameras are supported too, if they are already on site or the task requires them. 2D cameras need a 720p or 1080p substream and a view-only account. Every camera goes through a built-in suitability check with a 0–100 score.
Which cameras are suitable?
IP cameras with an RTSP stream, as well as MJPEG and HLS streams. For posts, a view from the side and above at 30–45°; for the checkout, a camera above the cashier’s position. Full requirements are in the Deployment document.
Does the system work with a camera that sees the cashier from behind?
Yes, if the cash drawer, terminal, counter and the cashier’s hands are in the frame: actions at the checkout are recognized from them. Face identification from such an angle is not possible — identity gets the “undetermined” status, and this never leads to an accusation. To check whether the employee at the till is the one logged in, the cashier’s face must be in the frame.
What happens at night and in poor lighting?
The platform flags insufficient light, and when recognition is uncertain it answers “undetermined” rather than raising a violation. Operation at night and in the cameras’ infrared mode is tested on the site’s recordings during the pilot calibration period.
Network and autonomy
What are the network requirements?
Within the site: about 2 Mbps per camera at 720p and about 4 Mbps at 1080p. We recommend placing cameras in a separate network segment. The autonomous option needs no internet access; the hybrid option needs only an outbound secure connection, 2–6 Mbps for 10–30 cameras. There are no inbound connections from the internet.
What happens if the internet or the connection to the server is lost?
The n7kel on-site unit continues analysis and accumulates signed events, and once the connection is restored it transmits them strictly in order. In the hybrid option: up to 72 hours without connection — normal mode; up to 7 days — restricted mode. The autonomous option needs no connection at all.
Can everything be installed on our premises, with no external connections?
Yes. In the autonomous option, the on-site unit and the server with dashboard, analytics and archive run on your hardware, there are no external connections, and data does not leave your company. The vendor has no access to the data.
What happens if a camera goes offline?
The posts covered by that camera switch to the “unknown” state, and a “camera offline” notification is sent. No violations are raised from empty frames.
Data and personal data
Where is video stored?
There is no continuous recording: the on-site unit keeps only the last few seconds in memory for video clips. Only the frame and a video clip of about 10 seconds are saved for each event. In the autonomous option everything is stored on your premises; in the hybrid option the frame and clip are sent to a server in a data center in your country.
Who sees the video and frames?
Only the client’s users whose role allows it, and only for their own sites. A link to a frame is issued to a specific user for 15 minutes. Every view and every download is recorded in the activity log, including actions by the vendor’s specialists, who access data only at your request.
How does the platform comply with personal data legislation?
The client is the personal data controller; all data stays with the client, is confidential and is not shared with third parties, except where expressly provided for by the agreement and the law. The platform is designed for the requirements of the law of the client’s country: in Kazakhstan, the Law “On Personal Data and Their Protection”, including in-country data storage; in Armenia, the Law “On Protection of Personal Data”; for other countries, on request. Face identification of employees only with their written consent, bystanders in frames are blurred, retention periods are configurable. The final legal assessment is given by the client’s legal counsel; see the Security and personal data document for details.
Does the system recognize employees’ emotions?
The auxiliary condition assessment (fatigue and stress) is off by default and can be fully disabled in the settings: when the module is off, its components are not loaded onto the on-site unit. Even when enabled, the module never creates or escalates violations and is not grounds for penalties.
Does the system recognize customers and visitors?
Not by default: recognition of visitors and customers is off. It is enabled only by the client’s decision, as a separate module, and only on a lawful basis — the person’s consent (patient check-in by appointment in n7kel Access, bank customers in n7kel Flow) or an agreement with the authorized government bodies (checks against wanted lists). Bystanders’ faces in event frames are irreversibly blurred before saving. Learn more in the Security and personal data document.
What if an employee has not consented to biometrics?
Everything except face identification works. Such an employee gets the “no reference” status, which is never treated as a mismatch and never leads to accusations.
Can we limit what the system records and stores?
Yes. Any restrictions the client needs are put in place at the client’s request: which cameras, zones and modules are active, what is recorded, retention periods, who sees what. In every case, all information remains confidential and is not shared with third parties. The only exceptions are those expressly provided for by the contract and the law: transfer of match information to the authorized body when the wanted-list check module is enabled (under an agreement with that body), and processing on the client’s instructions in the hybrid option.
Can vehicles and visitors be checked against the databases of the Ministry of Internal Affairs or the National Security Committee?
Yes, if the client requires it. The module is connected only under an agreement with the relevant government authorities and in the manner established by law. In the event of a match, a notification goes to an authorized member of the client’s security department and, as the agreement provides, to the authority. Learn more: Government databases.
Quality and evidence
How accurate is the system, and how many false alarms will there be?
The main principle is “silence over noise”: a false accusation is worse than a missed event. That is why the share of false alarms is the first quality indicator and the first indicator on the dashboard. If the system is not certain, it answers “undetermined” and stays silent. We do not make promises in percentages before a pilot: accuracy at a site can only be established on that site’s own recordings, and that is exactly what the pilot measures.
Can the evidence be trusted, and how is it verified?
Every event is signed by the on-site unit and linked to the previous one; the frame and video clip are part of the signature. Retroactive editing is detected by the check in the Integrity section. An evidence package for a period can be verified independently — with a program included in the delivery, on any computer, without our server and without our involvement.
Who makes the decision on a violation?
A person. A violation is a signal for review by a responsible staff member of the client. It can be closed only with a comment, including as a “false alarm”. The employee has the right to see the frame and video clip and give an explanation.
Products, AI and audio
Does the system work with audio?
Yes. n7kel Voice converts speech to text and analyzes it in any language: script compliance, forbidden phrases, conflicts, upselling, conversation search. The price depends on the number of languages. Audio is processed only when employees and customers are notified as required by the law of the country.
Can the AI be trained further for our tasks?
Yes. We train n7kel AI further to the client’s requirements: new actions, objects, uniforms, procedures and scenarios. Training uses annotated examples from the site, at the client’s decision and under a non-disclosure agreement; the result is verified before it goes into operation.
Does the system depend on foreign neural networks or services?
No. Recognition is performed by n7kel’s own AI on the client’s equipment. No foreign cloud AI services, external APIs or subscriptions are used, and no data is transferred abroad.
What is n7kel Atlas?
n7kel’s own platform for working with very large data sets: it brings together events from cameras, checkouts, access control, speech and external databases, finds links between people, vehicles, events, places and times, keeps cases and distributes tasks between teams and shifts. It runs on the client’s equipment. Learn more: n7kel Atlas.
Can customer flow be analyzed, for example in a bank?
Yes, with n7kel Flow: queues, waiting times, time in zones and routes — anonymously for all visitors. For customers who have provided their face themselves and given consent, visit analysis is available: how much time the customer spent in the branch, where, and doing what.
Is there anti-fraud for stores?
Yes, n7kel Antifraud: cashier actions vs. receipts, refunds and voids without a customer, drawer opened without a receipt, unscanned items, working under someone else’s login, chain-wide analytics.
Pilot, price and license
How does a pilot run?
1–2 sites, 2–4 weeks, with no disciplinary action. First, a report on your recordings within 5 working days of receiving them; then installation (1 working day per fuel station), a calibration week and operation with daily monitoring of false alarms. The result is a report with figures against criteria agreed before the start. Details: Pilot procedure.
How much does it cost?
The price is determined after the site survey. It consists of equipment, licenses per camera and per checkout, annual support, the site survey and commissioning, and the POS system adapter. There are no public prices: the scope and terms differ for every site.
What is the difference between a perpetual license and a subscription?
A perpetual license is paid once, with an unlimited term of use; support and updates are renewed annually. If support is not renewed, the installed version keeps working. A subscription is the hybrid option with a monthly fee per camera and per checkout; the server is hosted in a data center in your country.
Is the source code transferred?
No. A license, including a perpetual one, is a right of use. The source code and rights to the software and n7kel AI remain with the rights holder. The license is bound to your hardware, and n7kel AI is delivered encrypted.
How does support work?
24/7 support: the n7kel support team accepts requests around the clock, seven days a week; response times by priority are set by the contract. Updates are signed and, before release, tested on reference data sets, including, at the client’s decision, the reference set of the client’s site; on failure there is an automatic rollback.
Do you sign a non-disclosure agreement?
Yes. A non-disclosure agreement is signed before recordings from your cameras are transferred.
Integrations and languages
How is the POS system connected?
POS transactions are sent via the REST API in batches or as a CSV/XLSX export with column mapping. Transaction ID, till number, transaction type and time are mandatory. Resending does not create duplicates, and till clock drift is accounted for automatically.
Can the system be integrated with 1C, access control, a security monitoring console, SIEM or our own software?
Yes, with virtually any client system: REST API with keys that have separate permissions, signed webhooks, databases, file exchange, message buses, intermediate services for legacy systems. Details: Integration with any system.
Which languages does the system support?
The web interface, notifications and operating documentation are in Russian; other interface languages are discussed during the site survey. n7kel Voice speech analytics works with any language, including Russian and Kazakh; the price depends on the number of languages.
How does n7kel Vakhta differ from n7kel Fuel Station Control?
n7kel Vakhta is staff video analytics at any site: posts, PPE, safety, checkout, staff identification, evidence. n7kel Fuel Station Control is a control and anti-fraud platform for a fuel station network: cash transaction log, receipt reconciliation, cashier kiosk, notifications by e-mail, Telegram and SMS, reports. The products can be used separately or together. The full line is on the Products page.
