Checkout, shift and safety control at fuel stations

Stations already have cameras above the checkouts and on the forecourt, but almost no one watches them in real time. n7kel turns this video into verifiable signals: what happened at the checkout, who was behind the till, and whether this matches the POS transactions. For fuel station networks we have ready-made projects delivered turnkey — from a single station to a network of hundreds of fuel stations.

Challenges

Where a fuel station network loses money

  • 01

    Checkout

    Off-till sales (not rung up), refunds without a customer, the cash drawer opened without a receipt, frequent no-sale transactions.

  • 02

    Shift

    The employee at the till is not the one logged into the POS system; the checkout is unattended while a customer waits; absences during peak hours.

  • 03

    Procedures

    The drawer is left open, unrelated activities at the post, violations of the procedure for handing over goods.

  • 04

    Safety

    Entry into hazardous zones — the fuel unloading area, technical rooms; missing required workwear; a person on the floor.

Ready-made projects

More than products: ready-made projects for fuel station networks

n7kel Vakhta and n7kel Fuel Station Control are not prototypes: they are finished platforms built for the needs of fuel networks, and projects for fuel station networks are already under way, including projects for an international oil company. We do not disclose client names.

We deliver turnkey projects of any complexity: site survey, design, equipment, installation, integration with POS and accounting, training, 24/7 support.

  • n7kel’s own AI — no dependence on foreign neural networks or foreign cloud AI services;
  • everything runs on the client’s equipment: no foreign cloud AI services, external APIs or subscriptions;
  • data is not transferred abroad or to third parties, except where expressly provided for by the agreement and the law;
  • no lock-in to a single manufacturer of cameras or POS equipment;
  • the AI is trained further to your network’s procedures.

n7kel video analytics

Checkout reconciliation: video and receipt together

The Fuel Station Checkout module compares what the camera above the checkout saw with what the POS system recorded. A violation is opened only when the discrepancy is confirmed by both the video and the POS data.

  • the cash drawer opened without a receipt, refund or no-sale transaction;
  • goods handed to a customer without payment — an off-till sale (not rung up);
  • a refund or void with no customer at the checkout;
  • the employee at the till is not the one logged into the POS system;
  • a customer waiting at an unattended checkout; the drawer opened with no customer present or left open.

If there is no POS data for that moment, there is no accusation. A receipt that arrives late clears the violation automatically.

For the central office

The entire network in one window

n7kel Fuel Station Control collects station cash transactions in a single log, reconciles them with receipts and records every transaction in a hash chain. The security department receives notifications by e-mail, Telegram and SMS with a delivery status; management receives Excel and PDF reports by station and by cashier.

The central office sees the connection status of every till; till operation during a prolonged loss of connection is provided by the native till client and agreed during the site survey.

What is needed to start

n7kel AI is trained and tested on ordinary 2D images, so the cameras you already have are suitable. 3D cameras are supported too, if they are already on site or the task requires them.

  • 1–2 recordings from the cameras above the checkouts — daytime and nighttime; provided under a non-disclosure agreement that we sign before the transfer;
  • a sample export of POS transactions in CSV or XLSX, or access to the POS API;
  • a person responsible for the pilot and for reviewing events;
  • a report on your recordings within 5 working days of receiving them;
  • installation at one fuel station takes 1 working day; the pilot runs 2–4 weeks at 1–2 stations with no disciplinary action.

Frequently asked questions

Do the cameras need to be replaced?

As a rule, no. The IP cameras already installed at the station are suitable. For the checkout, the camera angle matters: the frame should include the cash drawer, the terminal, the counter and the cashier’s hands. We check the suitability of every camera during the site survey.

Can conversations between cashiers and customers be analyzed?

Yes, through n7kel Voice: script compliance, forbidden phrases, conflicts — in Russian, Kazakh and any other language; the price depends on the number of languages. Only with employees and customers notified as required by the law of the country.

What if a cashier has not consented to face identification?

No reference template is created for them; they get the “no reference” status and are never accused of impersonation. Checkout reconciliation, unattended checkout detection and safety work without biometrics.

Does the solution depend on foreign neural networks?

No. The solution runs on n7kel’s own AI and on the client’s equipment: no foreign cloud AI services, external APIs or subscriptions are used, and no data is transferred abroad or to third parties, except where expressly provided for by the agreement and the law.

Does video leave the station?

No. Video is processed by the n7kel on-site unit at the station. In the autonomous option nothing leaves the site: the server and the archive are on your premises.

How much does it cost?

The price is determined after the site survey: it depends on the number of stations, cameras and checkouts and on the chosen hosting option.

Let’s start with your recordings

Provide 1–2 recordings from the cameras above the checkouts and a sample POS export. Within 5 working days we will show what the system finds at your station.

Frames show n7kel AI output on licensed stock footage and on a synthetic checkout scene; people’s faces are blurred. Screenshots show demonstration data; the interfaces in the illustrations are schematic mockups with sample data. The interface in the screenshots is shown in Russian.
